The Hope, Brighton

Presenting tracks from ‘My Antique Son’ and the complete ‘Dead Souls’ piece in one of Brighton’s most-renowned live venues.

‘My Antique Son’ addresses Nick’s uncommon passions for vision-incensed dead poets, oblique sonic landscapes and ghosts-as-memories, via a progressive song-writing aesthetic that traces a lineage through William Blake, Rupert Brooke, Heliogabalus, Aleister Crowley, chanson, doom, and prog to create a bewitching psychedelic eruption of words and music.

The Academy of Sun has performed in churches, galleries, boats and dungeons, and are rapidly becoming one of the most versatile, spirit-charged ensembles in the UK.

Advance praise for ‘My Antique Son’ has seen London-based poet Jeremy Reed describe the record as ‘totally brilliant’, while David Tibet of Current 93 who contributes a foreword to the record’s liner notes has hailed it as ‘exquisite’.
