Adolescent: Run Away From Bad People

This latest E.P from Brighton based producer “Adolescent” is a beautifully obscure selection of reverb soaked, atmospheric instrumentals. The relatively unknown beat maker has managed to piece together this synthesizer love story beneath our very noses.

If you crave experimental sounds then this guy should have your full attention. I’ve heard so many producers make music which aims for the obscure; they cram as many erratic and meaningless sounds and whistles into a four minute track and hope that the bizarreness can lead it to a grateful audience. The fact is that an experimental E.P/L.P requires just as much, if not more calculated production than any other style of music to stop it sounding like a sonic car crash. I found that “Adolescent” doesn’t push its sound beyond what it needs to be, the hypnotic melodies and weighty synthesizers are persuasive enough to make me enjoy it.

Locate this wonderfully refreshing E.P and support the stranger side of music. It’s a crime that we’re all so unaware of the vast wealth of sound circulating the streets of Brighton and beyond. As with so many other artists, it’s easy for them to be stuck in the corner of the music community because they don’t lace every inch of their existence with Auto-Tune. I’m definitely expecting big things from Adolescent in the very near future. Find his E.P “Run Away From Bad People” as a free download on Bandcamp.
