At U.Mi-1’s show it was very hard to see beyond the blue steel lipped models presenting the Spring/Summer 2012 collection entitled, ‘The Musicians.’

I searched high and low trying to discover how and why the collection was called, ‘The Musicians,’ with sharp cubist inspired pattern cutting and a pale palette of blue, white and cream, but not even the press realise could form any answers in my muddled head. The clothing itself was indeed well constructed but seemed to lack any strength, perhaps it was the colouring, or the formation of the cubist designs that made the garments seem flat and almost lifeless on the pouting males.

U.Mi-1’s saving grace however was with a beautiful deep blue Prince of Wales check suit, which stood out amongst the pale hues and onto the pages of Brideshead Revisited, with its high mandarin necked collar and playful tailored shorts. If only the concentrated strength of this one garment could have been transferred to the rest of the collection and we would be able to see the talent that U.Mi-1 obviously possesses.
