LFW: Dans Le Vie

Far more fun than traditional winter attire, the aptly thrillingly titled ‘Exciting Encounter’ for Dans le Vie Rira Sugawara’s third collection, was a colourful and kitsch, wonderfully styled offering.

With glistening vinyl plastics, eye-catching patterns, animal print fur collars and layered net skirts, contrasts in texture, colour and reflective properties were in affluence. Inspired by 60s American Pop Art and the spiritual character of a Japanese high priest, such vibrancy and whimsy was to be expected but it was the rendering of it that was done so well. There were beautiful belted trenches in snakeskin prints, hooded quirky ensembles accessorised with iridescent sunglasses and retro quiffs with candyfloss pink streaks complementing the lust laden ruby red lips, with lipliner used to create a cupids bow and a perfect pout.

As well as the pale pink strands which were the most frequently appearing, there were also canary yellows, barbie pink and purple, all suggesting a new popism. The outre disc/flying saucer fascinaters and the glossiness of the fabrics made this a luxurious and playful treat.
