Public Service Broadcasting – R.Y.O.G.B.I.V

“Teaching lessons of the past through the music of the future,” is the calling card of J. Willgoose Esq and Wrigglesworth known as Public Service Broadcasting and it sums the band’s debut R.Y.O.G.B.I.V (red yellow orange green blue indigo violet) up expertly. Using a public information package celebrating the invention of colour television backed by break beat drumming and a plethora of instruments including a well placed banjo, the duo create an ambient track reminiscent of The Avalanches  and Go Team. They come across with a stronger acoustic sound than other ambient acts though, which allows the song to keep to the duo’s musical concept and avoid becoming another Mac based bedroom product that would only lead to an Ikea advert at best. If they embellish upon this brilliant start they have created for themselves there’s no reason to doubt they won’t be mainstays of the left field.
