Shop FloorWhore

Shop FloorWhore is the urban dictionary equivalent of shopping addict, its also genius. A shopping addiction she may have, Siobhan Hogan also design and creates beautifully bespoke head pieces for those who crave opulence and flaunt glamour. More than partial to a sequin or a handful, I guarantee you will fall head over heels.

I have to ask, the name is genius- where did it come from? It was a nickname bestowed to me by my big sis! I can spend money in an empty room, and I like to shop-she’s still traumatised from our last trip to New York. I drive her mad and last time she came to stay; she had to forcibly remove me from the earring stall at Ridley Road market. Basically it’s an ode to every gal like myself who loves to shop and find amazing pieces, to wear the bones out of.

Why turbans? I guess its all about escapism, I associate turbans with old school glamour, opulence and mega dollars-everything you aspire to when you grow up on the mean streets of Liverpool

When designing your bespoke turbans, do you have a particular style of girl in mind, for each one? Not really, I enjoy seeing all sorts of people wearing my turbans-that’s half the fun, not knowing how they will be styled or what they will be put together with. It takes a special kind of person to wear a turban and it’s more to do with your thinking rather than your look. I’m proper into turbans for men too, and I’m lucky enough to have some serious hot boys around me to spread the word!

Turbans are your specialty however, there is the odd clothing piece hiding in your ASOS marketplace store. Have you any plans to extend your talents beyond headwear to maybe a clothing range? That is definitely in the pipeline, but I really want to ride the turban wave this year and see how far I can take it.  In terms of a clothing range, I would want to continue using vintage fabric or re-hashing vintage pieces that have come to the end of the road. It would be a print filled, fringing enhanced, and sequin infused mish mash of SFW’s favorite things. Keep your eyes peeled!

SFW offers an eclectic assortment, what are your favorite sources of inspiration? I’m obsessed with print, high doses of colour and sequins. I grew up watching Lily Savage and my mum used to wear full-length furs, with green diamanté encrusted cat eyeglasses. So I come from the Pat Butcher school of more is more, I love the 80’s approach to eveningwear and the old New York drag balls. Street art, the 90’s rave scene and Margo from the Good Life rank pretty high in the inspiration stakes too.

Jessie J is the latest A-lister rocking a SFW headpiece, who do you want to see next, in a SFW creation? I’ve got my sights on a few people! Paloma Faith is on the list, hopefully I can get something to her for fashion week. I’d love to get Dominique Young in SFW, she too HOT and would rock the ass out of a turban. I met Kelis last year (in a stalker fan moment) and she had a turban on that didn’t do her justice, maybe I could change that? I gots a mad crush on Noel Fielding, and if any man can wear a turban its him-I have a black velvet/sequin embellished piece with his name all over it.

London Fashion Week AW12 is imminent; who are you most looking forward to seeing? Stands to reason I’m holding my breath for the return of Moschino, and I have a serious soft spot for Kokontozai. But I think off schedule is the most exciting place to be, I can’t wait to see what Fam Irvoll kicks out at VFS. I love the buzz at LFW, so no doubt I will spend most of my time hanging on the streets and peeps watchin-thats usually where all the best stuff goes down!
