Review: Born Blonde- I Just Wanna Be

Tuesday 12 June 2012

Born Blonde are an indie pop quintet from London. Their new single I Just Wanna Be is to be released on the 16th July. It’s a simple, slightly psychedelic ditty, which accompanies these grey British Summer days down to a tee.

Whether this is for the right reasons, I’m not sure. Personally, I’d rather listen to the new Girls album and day dream about being in San Francisco. I Just Wanna Be is nostalgic of 90’s Brit-pop to its core; a genre which seems to be having a bit of a resurrection at the moment. I’m not too sure whether I’m down with this as I’m more one for originality than any form of nostalgia. If simple indie pop music (although the emphasis being on the ‘indie’ rather than the ‘pop’ – these boys ain’t

Swim Deep) then you may like Born Blonde who are the next to join the likes

of Bleech and The Castells in this strange ‘indie’ revival that’s happening at the moment.
