Review: Saint Saviour- Grace Jones

Best known for her work fronting festival favourites Groove Armada, Saint Saviour is back on the summer circuit serving up some Grace Jones realness. In a fitting tribute to the eponymous trailblazer, Saint Saviour has released a song to coincide with her upcoming performance at the Lovebox Festival where the New Wave pioneer herself will also be playing.

The track, creatively titled Grace Jones, is a straight-up throw back, pulling from Jones’ conspicuous repertoire and style. Saint Saviour gives us some old-school driving bass dance beats with airy, tormented vocals filtering around the song like a trail of glitter left by behind by Grace herself.

Saint Saviour says she’s excited to play Lovebox again; as well as performing with her old crew, Groove Armada, she’ll also be appearing with Kris Di Angelis on The Circus Stage plus a solo show on the Dalston Superstore stage on Sunday. It’s fair to say to Saint Saviour will be working her little arse off. “ I’ll be requiring an intravenous cocktail supply by the end of all that (can’t drink and sing) and I can’t wait to see Grace Jones again because for me, she embodies everything a performer should.  It’s for that reason I will be leading the crowds in a war cry of her name.”

It’s going to be a big one with names like Chaka Khan, Felix Da Housecat, Crystal Castles, Hot Chip and Kelis to name a few.

Be sure to get your tickets to Lovebox ( so you can be one of the Loveboxers singing along with Saint Saviour as she delivers her love letter in song to her idol.
