Review: We Three and the Death Rattle- Hey Detonator!

Dictionary – ‘Death Rattle’ (n):  a sound produced by a person immediately preceding death, resulting from the passage of air through the mucus in the throat.

Whilst some bands opt for ‘The Machine’, ‘The Diamonds’ and ‘The Makers’ in their backing band soubriquets, Leicester’s We Three and the Death Rattle opted for the curious, yet fitting epithet in ‘The Death Rattle’.

We Three and the Death Rattle, join the current surge in garage blues revival with new single Hey Detonator!  currently available as a free download until September 3rd, from the band’s PAW//PURR label, via Soundcloud. Hey Detonator! launches straight into a maelstrom of heavy guitar, unyielding drums and a menacing yet wraithlike female war cry,  juxtaposed by a resonant males backing vocals; reminiscent of their touring companions The Kills – with some added juke-box bar brawl sex, grit and swagger echoing that of Band of Skulls.

The tracks primal blues brings enough to the table to secure interest in the band’s debut album due out in the autumn.
