Fashion Week Internationale is a VICE documentary series that uncovers the most incredible and eye-opening alternative fashion weeks from around the globe.
“Everyone has to get dressed in the morning no matter where you’re from” jokes Charlet, who was fascinated about women who wear full Burkha.The series is presented by VICE correspondent, Charlet Duboc, who was fascinated about the way people dress across the globe “So many of them love fashion and really ‘go to town’ with their outfits underneath and I really wanted to explore this.”
FWI has spent the last year traveling the world, reporting on the most interesting, bizarre and controversial fashion stories. In series one, Charlet used these stories as a lens into the cultural dynamics, restraints and trends in Nigeria, Cambodia, Colombia, Pakistan and more.
Coming up in series two, FWI travels to Kingston, Jamaica; Tel Aviv, Israel; Seoul, South Korea and more, to lift the lid on the weird and wonderful global fashion scenes that exist outside of London, NY, Paris and Milan.
Series two kicks off with ‘Rio Fashion Week’, as Charlet heads to Brazil to uncover racial issues and transgenderism in a vibrant alternative fashion world, from the favelas to the catwalk. In celebration, VICE so will be hosting an evening of Brazilian DJs, 7ft Trannys plus more Brazilian delights this Thursday from 11pm at Ridley Road Market Bar, Dalston.
