Mercury Music Prize 2012: Nominees

So the Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize 2012 shortlist has been announced. No Kate Bush? Are you kidding me? Sigh, sigh…

Head judge Simon Frith said: “This year’s Barclaycard Mercury Prize shortlist showcases a wonderful variety of musical voices, emotions and ambitions.

“The sheer range of music here celebrates the abiding ability of British musicians to find new ways to explore traditional themes of love and loss while making an exhilarating soundtrack for life in 2012.”

Last year’s prize went to PJ Harvey for Let England Shake. The winner will be announced on November 1st.
