Preview: 100 Beards 100 Days

I love a good beard. ‘Back in the day’ they used to be solely seen on the weird uncle at Christmas, or the dodgy farmer who you’d suspect to be into bondage. But these days you’re not given a Blue Peter social status badge without a tash smacked proudly on your face. Models wine and dine their bodies with ink art and a wilderness axeman beard; the brave are sporting a swirly curly wurly tash from a French cartoon; and I’m sure there are kids who are just drawing one on.

So it’s about time that someone picked up on this trend and made a visual bible. That’s where Jonathon Daniel Pryce comes in, winner of Photographer of the Year at the 2012 Scottish Fashion Awards and owner of style blog Another Garcon. Prowling the streets of London for signs of stubble, 100 Beards 100 Days does exactly what it says on the tin. Men of all ages, cultures and creeds that interpreted facial hair in their own realms have been included in a limited edition hard back book, and if coverage by the likes of i-D, GQ and Glamour is anything to go by (assigning Spindle to this list of course), then it’s time to clean shave your bookcase to make prime time room for this.

100 Beards 100 Days is supported by Pall Mall Barbers, published by Polwarth Publishing, priced £20 and can be purchased from 100beards.tumblr.com
