Preview: Bench- All In The Wrist Exhibition

In the new Bench concept store in Manchester’s Northern Quarter is an exhibition called All in the Wrist. Oo-er, that sounds a bit rude. Well in this case, don’t worry, it isn’t. It’s more about the fact that the exhibits are hand-made and drawn.

The exhibition is taking place in the new Bench store’s gallery space, called the Self Made gallery. The Self Made gallery space is situated in the basement of the Bench shop and continues the slightly raw industrial aesthetic of the concept store above. The space is specifically for changing exhibitions.

All in the Wrist is curated by MOOT, a local artist and curator who has already created work for Bench. His work mixes illustration with graffiti and street art and this tendency can be seen running through the range of artists and works in the exhibition. The theme tying all the exhibits together is the use of cardboard; according to MOOT it is a ‘collection of cardboard chaos’. There is a quirky mixture of diverse artists, from the fanciful creatures and whimsical world view of Tash Whittle to the urban graffiti style of TJ ‘KREK’ Dolan.

All in the Wrist runs until 8th December.
