There’s something instantly compelling about the cleanliness, where elongated vests create ‘a sporty feel without the thought; you pop it on and your out.’ Imagine Alexander Wang’s relaxed aesthetic, Rick Owens’ ghostly mystery, and add an East London basketball yard, then you’re close to understanding the Domingo dynamics. “There’s a lot of street fashion going on” and “my ethos with menswear is simplicity, about creating something quite soft and streamlined.” Domingo is a designer that celebrates the male physique along these lines, with vests that allow a medley of muscle toned luckies or skinnies to fall into place with this effortless fashion attitude.
The SS13 collection confirms all of the above, with a ziggy essence of the nautical that still manages to feel clinical. The static from TV signal dominates head to toe looks; spiderwebs are given the sporty sci-fi treatment; and red dwarf rucksacks complete the idea. Expect some slam-dunking things to come from Domingo next year!
