News: Antoni and Alison open Ye Olde Worlde Super Modern Tea Room

Fashion design duo Antoni and Alison are currently celebrating 25 years of work and to mark it have opened a tea room above their East London based label shop (WARNING: the stairs are pretty steep). This, to me, is a good thing. My mum’s always complaining about London’s lack of tearooms in the 21st century. The new addition, paradoxically called Ye Olde Worlde Super Modern Tea Room, is open Thursdays and Fridays, 12:30-5:30 and Saturdays 1-5 and is located on Rosebury Avenue, if you fancy a visit.

The pair, after intense thought and preparation, have transformed what was their super-secret think tank into an elegant, Victorian two storey glass space where customers can dine – or afternoon tea – in style. Once they’ve conquered those darned stairs of course. The menu offers a ‘no choice’ choice of tea with an ‘olde worlde’ cake or coffee and ‘super modern’ biscuit. Confused? I was too. I think the gist of it is, you can stick to the traditional tea and cakes or revolutionise your tearoom experience with coffee and biscuits (hence the tearoom’s title – it’s all coming together now!). Rather ‘out there’ isn’t it? It’s definitely worth checking out though, now time to inform the mother, I’m sure she’ll be over the moon.
