Preview: Tom Hickox in Doc Martens Campaign

Check this video out by Doc Martens with trouble making lothario Ash Stymest. He’s fooling around, chatting about the punk aesthetic of being British, it’s dark but a flashback to our standard weekends.

Some of my favourite quotes from the rude boy video are below:

“Roll with the punches”
“I like people a little bit all over the place”
“Throw it all out there”
“Why don’t you just live in the present”
“Who has it all figured out at 20, as much as we think we have”
“We’re from fucking england, we’re fucking punk rock”

The brooding music is from Tom Hickox, a serious new talent who we’re banging on about at Spindle HQ during our tuna sarnie breaks. The Sunday Times described Tom arriving on the music scene “as if from a different planet, and certainly from a different age.”

Imagine a Tom Waits academy, where smokey mystery is brought out of the pupils. Poetry that haunts, inspires, and has a Sigur Ros imaginarium about it, but with more vocals that aren’t in elfish tongue.

Tom is playing an intimate showcase tomorrow at St Pancras Old Church, tickets are available here for you to feel the moody love.
