Kicking off on 28th April for a month-long takeover, the world-renowned Red Bull Music Academy touches down in New York for its 15th edition, with an unprecedented series of 34 unique shows celebrating music across genres and generations.
The 15th edition of the Red Bull Music Academy will take place in NYC from 28th April to 31st May 2013, bringing together 62 carefully selected producers, vocalists, beat-makers, instrumentalists and DJs from 35 countries. They will attend intimate lecture sessions and collaborate on music in an expansive, custom-built creative studio space in Chelsea, designed by acclaimed architect Jeffrey Inaba.
Alongside the lectures, more than 230 artists are set to perform at 34 events during the five-week city festival, including musical luminaries such as Brian Eno, James Murphy, DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown aka Erykah Badu, Pantha du Prince & The Bell Laboratory, A-Trak, Giorgio Moroder, Skream, Kim Gordon, and Four Tet. The shows happening in some of the most iconic venues around the city include special live concerts and curated club nights, as well as installations, film screenings and public conversations with some of today’s most inspiring music makers, with a select cast of performers also lecturing for the Academy attendees.
Ahead of the opening on Sunday 28th April, this Thursday 25th April Red Bull UK waves off the seven departing Brits, namely Alitrec, Benjamin Damage, Evian Christ, Koreless, Rudi Zygadlo, Throwing Snow and T.Williams at The New York Departure Lounge – an intimate launch party at the Red Bull Studios London. Their farewells and live sets will be accompanied by headliners Brooklyn rappers Flatbush Zombies UK debut alongside complementary New York drinks and eats.
