Following the success of his eponymous debut album earlier this year, Niagara-native Anthony Botting here delivers us another solid production with a more stripped down approach than his earlier work. There’s still a healthy dose of that restless, searching country vibe, but the more rock-focused overtones are gone, replaced by the more intimate, acoustic focus that provided the standout highlights on his previous work.
There’s flashes of both Bon Iver and Mumford and Sons, but the thing that distinguishes this single is A Book For Wanderers’ trademark passion. Serena Pryne’s delicate and haunting vocals provide a nice counterpoint, creating a sense of someone who’s all alone yet not alone at the same time.
It’s been a while since we heard any new material from A Book For Wanderers, and Echoes reminds us just why we loved his work in the first place. Botting’s powerful voice and masterful songwriting skills are shining brightly on display once again, complimented brilliantly by Pryne’s vocal contribution.
It’s a marvellous listen and bodes well for the album of new material that A Book For Wanderers is currently working on. So, lend us your ears and enjoy this brand new track from A Book For Wanderers. You can also check out our previous review of A Book For Wanderers too!
