Quay Eyewear Release ‘The Fleur’ Range

Usually when I wear sunglasses in the winter it’s so they can act as the do-not-disturb sign, the temporary remedy for hungover or tired eyes, the quick fix for when I look like a dog – certainly the means of diverting attention from myself by all accounts. Yet Quay’s AW13 sunglasses range ‘The Fleur’ act on the contrary, kissing the face of anonymity goodbye with trend-led frames that demand a passerby’s second glance.

Each design is unique in its own right, with frames coated in bright pops of colour like Gwen Stefani’s in radioactive green, reminiscent of goggles worn by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  The range also has the ‘Glomesh Sparkles Face’ design with flecks of marine blue and turquoise glistening like the scales of a mythological sea nymph. It seems the magic of these sunglasses is that they grant you the wish of being whoever you want to be.

My favourites are however the webbed geometric wire frames angled like sideways cat ears, or even the 70s rounded John Lennon ‘Yi Brow’ shades updated with cartoonish lids for a deceivingly alert expression.

You can shop the unisex collection at Asos, Lazy Oaf and Urban Outfitters for £25 apiece.
