Christmas Nukebox: I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, The Ronettes

Friday 06 December 2013
Words Spindle

If I’d seen my Mommy kissing Santa Claus, I reckon my childish mind would have been pretty happy as she could surely have scored a few extra presents for me – right?

In I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, The Ronettes don’t sound too upset about what they’ve seen either. Perhaps they’re old enough to know that it’s probably their Dad in a Santa suit that Mum’s kissing, or else their brains work the same way that mine does.

I say ‘probably’ Dad in a Santa suit, as that’s what the song has always been presumed to mean – however this has never been confirmed, and frankly I find it a bit fishy that Daddy was bothering to don a Santa suit when the kids were already in bed. Unless Mum (Mommy, whatever) prefers Daddy to wear the Santa suit as some bizarre festive fetish?

Have a listen to the song below and judge for yourself!
