So that time of year is already upon us; Christmas and New Year for many usually entails giving your liver a good thrashing, embarrassing office party shenanigans and blowing all your hard earned cash on presents for your ungrateful relatives.

For some it also means rounding up the Top 10 best of. Here at Spindle we thought we’d pull together our list of Top 10 breakthrough singles of the year from a variety of signed and unsigned artists.

We’ve been pondering over this feature for many weeks and after much deliberating, have a list we feel does the honours:

1) Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Sacrilege

2) Arctic Monkeys – Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?

3) The National – Graceless

4) Foxigen – No Destruction

5) Warpaint – Love is to Die

6) Lykke Li – I Follow Rivers

7) Jungle – Platoon

8) Drenge – Backwaters

9)  Glass Candy – Warm in the Winter

10) Daniel Avery – Knowing We’ll Be Here
