Spindle’s Music O2W 2014

Tuesday 07 January 2014
Words Lizzie

Without further ado we present you with our 15 ones to watch for 2014. These acts consist of newly signed and on the verge of being signed acts who we think are going to be who everyone is talking about this time next year.

Lemon had the hit record ‘Pussy Drop’ which was on the soundtrack to Kickass 2 the movie. Known as the ‘ghetto barbie’ she has been working with a top class team working on her fresh new sound; pop, reggaeton and hip hop. Lemon is set to showcase her next track PARTY MONEY in March. The girl can sing, dance and looks amazing – hello pop star of 2014!

The Bohicas
The Bohicas are Domino Records most recent signing from Essex via East London. Fun fact: Dominic lead singer from the band is Eugene McGuinness‘s brother.

Mausi are a quartet from Newcastle via Milan  Fronted by siblings Thomas and Daisey Finetto, who produce catchy electro pop. Fun fact: Mausi means ‘darling’ in Austrian German!  Labels: ATG Records, Loose Lips Records, Relentless Records

Cinnamon Girl
We’ve been following Cinnamon Girl for over a year now, from Friends to Devil in Me. The Danish-born songstress has been signed to Sony RCA in the UK and Columbia in the US. Camilla has been recording with the legendary Biffco and has her first release in 2014. We predict big things and believe she’ll be the next big pop star!

Adi Ulmansky
The Jerusalem native struck it big on the Israeli version of Pop Idol and now seems destined to take over the world her hip-hop electro fusion style.

Luke Rathborne
Introduced to the UK audience by Lauren Laverne and featured last month as Vogue’s artist of the week, the NYC garage-pop inspired singer recently set up his own label True Believer.

Ella Eyre
At just 19 years old, this young singer has a voice which is pure old soul – a refreshing antidote to the overly synthesized Top 40.

It’s no secret we love our Swedish imports here at Spindle, and Elliphant’s gritty pop/R&B sound is just as infectious as any that came before her.

The Remix Artist Collective are a clever bunch that specialize in the art of reworking rather than remixing other artists’ songs to come up with something truly unique.

Le Youth
Having exploded onto the music scene with his ridiculously catchy track Cool, LA-based DJ and producer Le Youth AKA Wes James looks set to capitalize on this success throughout 2014.

Epic yet heartfelt, the smooth sounds of this Canadian-Danish duo are likely to stay with us for quite some time to come.

Avec Sans
Oh so seductive – Avec Sans luscious electro-pop shows a keen understanding of the craft of pop songwriting and we can’t wait to hear more from them.

A boy-girl electropop duo? We’re on board! It helps that their latest, ‘Til Infinity, is so damn epic and rich.

Wolf Alice
Described as ‘the love child of folk and grunge’, this Chess Club Records signing have come a long way from their folky roots to a rockier sound that is nonetheless bouncy, upbeat and unabashed fun.

Sam Smith
You may be familiar with Sam from his guest vocals on Disclosure’s ‘Latch’ and Naughty Boy’s ‘La La La’. He’s also been nominated for the Brits Critics Choice award for 2014.
