Introducing: Fabienne

British singer Fabienne is set to release her raw and heartfelt EP ‘City of Shadows’ this March.

Born in Bradford, Fabienne spent her school days listening to the likes of Kanye West, N.E.R.D and J’Dilla, artists who have all proven key to Fabienne’s music she makes today. At the age of 15, as a lover of Atlantic Records’ soul music collections, she wrote to the label requesting an internship. She was accepted and from this stemmed her love for live music, influenced by New York City and her relationship with soul singer and songwriter Betty Wright.

It was with Betty Wright that Fabienne began to write songs of her own and upon graduating from from LIPA last year, Fabienne moved to London, performing regularly at ‘The Arts Club’ Mayfair. It is from such live performance, that her influences Aretha Franklin and Sharon Jones shine through; and these are most noticeable on her ‘City of Shadows EP’, set to be released this march.

Her sound is sensually seductive; soulful and utterly energetic. Taster track ‘Sunstroke’ is testament to this, amplifying Fabienne’s love of soul. Willing us to ‘get lost in a postcard’ and ‘get ourselves in trouble in a Mai-Tai bubble’, it’s an upbeat, sing-along summer tune more than capable of being a chart topper. Already tipped as one of the 25 under 25 rising stars in London by The Evening Standard and previous support from CJ Beatz and Dj Target at 1 XTRA, Fabienne’s sights are set on making waves with her music this year.
