Brooklyn, the bubbling musical melting pot, has unearthed yet another musical gem with brother-sister duo Paperwhite and their first offering – the pearlescent ‘Got Me Goin’ – can only be described as a delectable course of sophisticated hazy synth pop.
‘Katie and I have been working on music together since we discovered what music was,’ says Ben Marshall, when asked about the origins of the project. ‘Whether the two of us are in the same room or Skyping across the country, we’ll always be writing together,’ Katie adds. Their connection as siblings is clearly reflected in their music, where both voices reside in perfect harmony amidst the soft electronic melody of their debut track ‘Got Me Goin’. ‘The track was inspired by moments in my life where I’ve felt immobile, almost stuck in time,’ says Katie. ‘In many ways, ‘Got Me Goin’ represents that power of direction and the discovery of movement through new love’.
The outcome of the innate connection the duo possesses is both unique and seemingly familiar. Driving each other’s creativity for maximum impact, Paperwhite are sure to be destined for big things.
