LFW AW14 Makeup and Hair Trends – Day Three

Monday 17 February 2014
Words Spindle

First stop – Mac press appointment! These are like gold dust, and are a good place to refresh and to top up on runway tips.

Mac cover the vast majority of shows at Somerset House and the press room artists are rotated to cover backstage as well. The girls are brought in from all over England. I had my pink and magenta eyebrows touched up and much needed concealer applied by Kate Butler, a trainer from the north west. The goody bag was a lovely treat, thank you Mac!

The first show was Basharatyan V and I didn’t get a chance to sneak view backstage first so I got the real wow factor on runway. Being seated on FROW started the day beautifully!

I can’t say that this show was a similar trend hair and makeup-wise, other than the skin was flawless and highlighted. The main feature was the lips – white pencil outline and fill topped with iridescent glitter with slices of holographic silver on the bow of the lip. Very interesting.

The nails for this show were talons with an ombré blue silver theme; stunning.

The hair was a blonde wig with heavy fringe almost totally covering the eyes:

We then buzzed on to the presentation by Little Shilpa, a hat and accessory designer. My favourite salon presentation always and she did not disappoint.

It was dark and extreme with backdrop film footage. The models lit their own faces with torch light. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves – needless to say the makeup was VERY colourful under all that darkness.

Then ran into the Mimi Fasi show, grabbing a few backstage pictures on the way. Guess what? BIG HAIR again.

This was a stunning French pleat with a high beehive back combed top again with a little smooth side part front.  We managed to catch the hair team doing last minute touch ups and then got a promise of an interview with makeup artist Claire de Graft after show.

The designer is Moroccan so the artist themed makeup around this using warm colours, copper bronze and golden in the eye – a 60s liner with a take on Liz Taylor. The eyebrows were quite straight with some internal shading in taupe colour. The look was finished with  a golden hi lite honey bronze lip balm.
