Sony signed producer Daithi has revealed his new single ‘Have To Go’, featuring the vocals of NYC singer Jesse Boykins III. The fiddle-playing, house-making, hair-flicking bundle of energy is getting ready for the release of his debut album in May, on which the track will be featured.
‘Have to go’ is an infectious dancefloor jam decorated with the smooth, soulful and seductive tones of Boykins, produced in Cork alongside Ian Ring (Young Wonder), Daithi’s studio partner-in-crime. Of the bittersweet song, Daithi says: “It’s inspired by the sudden rush of energy you get after making your true feelings known in a relationship that just isn’t working. It’s that weird release you get by admitting that you aren’t happy.”
Jesse has previously released music on the Ninja Tune label, and collaborated with electronic musicians including MachineDrum and Theophilus London. This collaboration is the result of a chance meeting at the Electric Picnic festival in Ireland last year. Following his appearance at Eurosonic in January and his first Dublin headliner at the Button Factory this March, Daithi is planning a string of summer gig dates to follow.
