Hull punk-poets, Life have returned with their new double ‘A’ side release ‘Money’ and ‘Crawling’, available on limited edition 7″ and download this week. Formed just a year ago, the last twelve months have been a blur for the Hull quartet, whose punchy guitar hooks and pop-poem lyrics have already garnered love from Steve Lamacq, John Kennedy, The Fly and NME Radar, and bagged them airplay on Radio 1 for their infectious debut single ‘I Wanna Forget’. Aside from this their latest offering has infact beem produced by former Kaiser Chief Nick Hodgson, at his studio in London.
Band-mates and brothers Mez and Mick bring their self-confessed love of pop culture – think everything from Steinbeck and Breaking Bad to the fantasy-world of Disneyland – DIY punk and the dirt of the city into their funny, frenetic, lovelorn and fuck-you word plays. Whilst Loz, the bassist brings hot-hyper-rhythms and Rich, the drummer throws in the relentless punk kick that you would expect from a man who can rip an apple clean in two.
All of this makes for un-missable live performances and since Life are just about to embark on a UK tour to support their new release, including a date in London – you’re in luck.
