Having made a successful UK live debut at Manchester’s Day and Night and London’s acclaimed Nordic night Ja Ja Ja, Swedish five piece Last Lynx have returned to the UK this May ahead of the release of their new single “Curtains” this June and their “Rifts” EP later this year to be released through Universal Sweden’s imprint SoFo Records.
Having first found themselves within the realm of online consciousness with introductory track “Killing Switch”, which shot to #1 on The Hype Machine only days after its release, Camilla Dahlstedt, Robin Eveborn, Kim Lindqvist and the brothers Marcus and Fredric Lindblom followed this success with their “Ocean Reels” EP. Taking the band under the spotlight in both the UK and around Europe in the summer of 2013, this EP is an infusion of playful lyrics, happy hazy beats and addictive melodies; and and with sound engineering by Lasse Mårtén who has worked previously with Lykke Li and Nikki & The Dove, we can see why it garnered such success.
Going on to release their most recent single “Lacuna”, a stellar offering of laid back dreamy beats with a twinkling melody and sultry yet youthful vocals, which has racked up almost 150K plays online, their forthcoming release “Curtains”, as Federic” explains, is about The End: “That hopeless trapped feeling of a summer daze, where you just waste good days in a bad mood. It’s about break-ups and breakdowns. Pretty much like Lacuna, and the upcoming Rifts EP. All the songs that ended up on the EP were written in a short period of time that gave them a certain sense of connection and theme. It wasn’t something we discussed or decided on but I guess that the song writing just coincided with a period in our lives when we were going through very similar emotions and were looping the same thoughts. Curtains is the result of five peoples mindsets, feelings and creativity.”
The Rifts EP will be released later in 2014, but for now you can visit the Last Lynx Soundcloud.
