Music Monday: Arcade Fire ‘We Exist’

This video simply HAD to be our Music Monday this week – it would be a crime if not. It’s no secret we’re all fans of Arcade Fire here at Spindle; as well as great music (and live shows to boot), they produce consistently creative videos that push boundaries.

Having previously utilised the latest in internet technology to create web-based interactive music videos such as ReflektorNeon BibleWe Used to Wait and Sprawl II, Arcade Fire have once again hit the promo video headlines with We Exist, directed by the fabulous David Wilson.

The video features Andrew Garfield (refreshingly not dressed as Spiderman) grappling with his sexual identity and coming out in small town America – finishing with a triumphant appearance on stage at the band’s live Coachella performance last month. The song’s lyrics are of an equally emotional and topical subject, described by Butler as “about a gay kid talking to his dad”.
