Introducing: Dukes Avenue

Monday 09 June 2014
Words Darren Skene

Production trio Dukes Avenue are three mates from London who officially formed a year ago and now release ‘Beautiful Girl’ from the yet-to-be-named debut EP due later this year.

After meeting in college, listening to grime and experimenting with songwriting and production, Dutchie, Jason and Jack Moses got called on from names such as P-Money and Fem Fel, which led them to play around with the grime scene for a while.

Shortly after, the trio began to tread into house territory and the more commercial side of production leading them to work with Ed Sheeran, Benny Banks, Sampha and Alexa Goddard to name a few. Also, their track ‘Kids Of The Night’ from Blizzard’s ‘Testing The Water’ EP received really decent radio play, taking number 1 on the hip hop charts.

The boys are now looking to explore their own sound, which is influenced by musical variety; from Oasis to Michael Jackson, The Prodigy and Pharrell Williams. The band are keen not to limit themselves to one genre and want to spend 2014 crafting their own  identity to introduce themselves as Dukes Avenue.

They now release their first non-collaborative project ‘Beautiful Girl’ , available on iTunes.
