RealD 3D: Not just for the 90s

We’re in the midst of 90s nostalgic heaven, scrunchies, puffa jackets, platforms; and with that it’s time to dust off those 3D shades and get into full swing of RealD 3D cinema with Cineworld (the next best thing would be teleportation.) So herewith, Spindle presents our top 5 3D films currently showing at Cineworld.

1. Maleficent
We’re a big fan of Disney films here at Spindle, and if you haven’t already seen it, we recommend watching ‘Maleficent’, the story of Disney’s iconic ‘Sleeping Beauty’. The film follows the original Disney tale of how Malicent turned from pure girl to the evil cold hearted queen.

Angelina Jolie stars as the villainess who has her heart broken by Stefan, played by Toby Regbo (Harry Potter, One Day), driving the once kind hearted queen to evil and revenge, and thus placing a curse on the new born baby princess Aurora.

The spellbinding film will have you on the edge of your seat and feeling as though you are indeed far into the enchanted kingdom! First time director Robert Stromberg has previously won Oscars for his art direction on ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Avatar’ – so as you can expect the production is and visuals are bloody brilliant!

2. X-Men Days of Future Past
If Disney’s not your vibe then why not try the kick ass ‘X-Men Days of Future Past’, with an all star cast including James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence. The latest edition from the series sees Wolverine travel into the past in order to prevent an awful from happening – and with those RealD 3D goggles you’ll really like you’re part of the action!

3. Avatar 3d: Special Edition
We’re big fans of James Camerons super sleek sci fi which tell the story of an ex-marine, who finds himself torn between two worlds and a desperate fight for survival, definitely one to watch, the special effects in this film are definitely not to be missed!

4. Despicable Me
The loveable animation Despicable Me is just even more loveable in 3D – the story of Gru, who relishes over all things wicked, vying to be the worlds greatest villain (the voice of Steve Carell) who adopts three young girls from an orphanage and tries to outdo his arch rival Victor.

5. Alice in Wonderland
Lewis Carroll and Tim Burton are the ultimate dream team in the haunting take of Alice in Wonderland, with an excellent mix of animation and live action starring Burton favorites Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.

So if you need a break from the heat this weekend – don’t just watch films, be part of them with RealD 3D at selected Cineworld Cinemas across the UK!
