The festival season is upon us, and for those of you who don’t trust the British weather to hold out, why not head to a festival in the Mediterranean.

Here feare Spindle’s round-up of the festivals held in the Europe this summer:
Hideout – Croatia
Mon June 30th – Thurs July 3rd
First things first, if you haven’t experienced a Croatian festival yet – you need to. Secondly, Hideout is our recommendation for pure hedonistic pleasure. Located on the infamous Zrce Beach you’ll be dancing from the minute the sun comes up until it goes back down. Sleep is no longer a necessity and all sense of reality goes out the window when your listening to the likes of Pillowtalk, Route 94, Jamie Jones, Soul Clap… on second thoughts, who isn’t at Hideout this summer? £€$: Full pass: €129.
If you decide to stay on in Croatia post festival, be sure to visit Zadar, for national and nature parks and Vis where you can hire bikes and cycle around the beautiful island!
Melt – Germany
18th-20th July 2014
Melt Festival is set in an open air machinery museum in Ferropolis, Germany. We’re really excited about this years electronic and rock festival, with the lineup including Metronomy, Four Tet and Portidhead. You can get a special festival train from Cologne to Ferropolis, where the festival takes place.
Spindle recommends staying on a few days post festival and visiting Oranienbaum and Worlitz for the great nature parks and landmarks.
Hellfest – France
20th-22nd June 2014
Iron Maiden, Aerosmith and Black Sabbath are the headliners of Hellfest 2014. The metal, rock and punk festival is held in Nantes, a French city famous for its grand artistic installations and creative spirit. Dubbed “the extreme music festival
Post festival Spindle recommends a visit to Nantes, there are places like the Château des Ducs de Bretagne and le Jardin des Plantes and lots of places to go shopping!
