New Year’s Eve Event Guide

New Year’s Eve… Otherwise known as the dreaded night of planning. Planning where you’re going, who you’re going with, what you’re wearing when you go to these places with these peoples. It’s just too much planning for one gal to handle. Well you know what they say, a problem shared is a problem halved. So here it is – a small guide to some of the best places to be on NYE. You can thank me later.

London

Club NME are putting on a NYE Ball at Camden’s KOKO, with the prom kings and queen taking the form of Superfood, with Prides as the supporting princes. As well as DJ sets by Ed Wilder and Alana B Devotion, so relieve your NYE indecision – you shall go to the ball.

Black Butter Records are throwing the party of their year at Electric in Brixton this NYE, really bring the Black Butter family altogether. Kidnap Kid, My Nu Leng, Woz and Waynard will be bring their unique sounds to the table. Not forgetting live performances from Bipolar Sunshine (!!!) and Sam Sure, and DJ sets from a number of BB’s family.

Sink The Pink and The 2 Bears are joining forces to put on the ultimate rave up at Shapes in Hackney. There will be a live set from The 2 Bears and dancers from Sink The Pink and DJs galore, I’m sure they’ll be a lot of glitter and fur and cuddly stuff thrown in their too. Time to get sunk in the bears.

Dollop have dolloped a brill DJ or two in their set up for New Years Eve this year. Held at Troxy, London with DJ sets from Joy Orbison, Boddika, Paul Wooldford, Pearson Sound, Floating Points and Barnt who make up just a section of the lineup, the event is set to say goodbye to 2014 with a bang.

Your Mum’s House is not consisting of your Granny falling asleep before 12 from too much vino this year, no no no, Your Mum’s House has been relocated to the Rolling Stock, Shoreditch. With a lineup of Kartel Brown, DJ HUGZ, Joshua James, Budakan and Scott Whippy plus an endless about of Your Mum joke opportunities, why would you not go?

The Merchant House has some of the best gin and rum in the world, and they’re offering you a free bar for NYE (tickets needed of course). Drink yourself into a gin coma in the comfort of your friends, your drink and a house DJ. Merchant House is on Well Court, off Bow Lane, I can assure you’ll get well bowed on a NYE fuelled by gin and rum.

Berlin

Breathe in the Berlin air at this outdoors New Years Eve street party. Join in the celebrations between Brandenburg Gate and the Victory Column with guests and Berliners alike. But that isn’t to say you’ll miss out on the party being outdoors, every year they have artists and DJs and food and fireworks. The perfect recipe for a German New Year’s eve. Now get me a bratwurst.

Paris

Say “bonjour” to 2015 in Paris, without referencing the obvious Parisian extraordinary sights to see the New Year in with, the country also knows how to throw a part-ay. Head to Nouveau Casino with its iceberg bar to celebrate in a cool yet traditionally messy manner.

New York

The opportunities in New York are endless, and on New Year’s Eve it seems it even extends that, if it were possible. There’s the Time Square ball drop, an abundance of bars and restaurants and gigs and even Perez Hilton’s Party House (I’m undecided on this one). But may we suggest Disclosure’s event Wild Life at Pier 94. The duo will be joined by Claude Vonstroke, Dusky, Ten Walls, Kyle Hall and Isaac Tichauer to bring in the New Year in the big apple.
