Bella Freud, known for her iconic slogan knitwear, is back with her second collection made in collaboration with Fred Perry. The Bella Freud Black Canvas collection draws upon Fred Perry’s iconic heritage and Bella’s own unique sense of British fashion legacy.

This second collection from Bella Freud and Fred Perry is dedicated to the girls of the dancehall. Their energy, their clothing, the customised sportswear they wore. These bold and bright inspirations are all interwoven with Bella’s distinct touch through all this season’s pieces.

The capsule collection features the typical polo tee of Fred Perry adorned with gold embroidered stars, a reference to the decorative military regalia of traditional reggae stars. It’s the sportswear styles you love of Fred Perry but blasted by the retro wand for a 80s ambience.

Bella also put together a playlist that runs alongside and intertwines with the collection, which you can find here. It follows the musical inspirations that influenced her designs, looking at the lineage of the dancehall scene and including Bob Marley ‘Get Up Stand Up’ all the way to Arctic Monkey’s ‘Do I Wanna Know?’. Immerse yourself in this rich heritage both musically and through the clothing collection.
