Introducing: Soak

Wednesday 29 April 2015
Words Ailis Mara

Barely 18 and with a guitar in her hand for what seems like less time than I last bought a decent pair of shoes (reminds me I must go shopping for some new wheels), it’s quite staggering how little Derry angel Bridie Monds-Watson AKA SOAK has managed to craft such a huge following that has allowed Radio 1 to snap her up for their Big Weekend, Brighton for The Great Escape Festival, various whistle stop tours of Europe ….. Oh and a headline tour of the US!

Not forgetting to mention that Soak is gearing up to release a quite special debut album out on June 1st. I’m pretty confident that if angels are truly the things of reality, then songs in Derry colloquialisms with simple but beautiful acoustic guitar chords take the form of this young lady.
