Grime music’s underground sensibilities and DIY mentality have often drawn comparisons to the late 70s/early 80s punk movement.

With the recent explosion in mainstream recognition (an acceptance aided by Skepta’s hard-hitting anthem That’s Not Me) Grime can be heard on the dacefloors of clubs worldwide, and more strangely, on the recent live lounge of UK punk duo Slaves.

The rendition of Skepta’s most recent single Shutdown is as stripped back as the original, except basslines have been swapped for kick drums and synthesizers traded in for distorted guitar.
