Inside the Designer Showrooms: Blood Brother

Another highlight from the LCM Designer Showrooms exhibition was the new collection by Blood Brother, a contemporary menswear brand based in London. Established in 2011 by co-founders Nicholas Biela and James Waller, the last few years have seen the label evolve from jersey staples into a directional fashion name stocked in stores around the world.

Blood Brother combines high-quality fabrics and minimal cuts to create fashion-forward looks, inspired by the concept of a global lifestyle. The new S/S16 collection is called Colony, and draws on eco-conscious concepts like the environment and renewable energy. Apparel and accessory pieces are made to be worn over and over, allowing their wearer to create a unique history and memories through the designs.

Contrast textures like waterproof fabrics and high-quality suede shape casual-cool pieces with an urban twist, while the muted colour palette underlines the recycled influence behind the styles. We also loved the statement prints, formed of newspaper headlines and graphic pictures related to key events that transformed history (such as nuclear war or the death of the dodo).
