Facebook Due to Join Apple and TIDAL in the Race for Music Streaming Supremacy

  • Words: Spindle Team

Music streaming services have been popping up like lemonade stands this past year. Between the reigning kings Spotify, the Jay-Z backed TIDAL and Apple’s very recent arrival on the scene you’d think we have enough options to listen to our music (we do), but apparently not! According to tech site Music Ally Facebook are well on their way to forging a new integrated music service into its social media platform.

Speaking on Facebook’s progression in the music video side of things one source told Music Ally, “It’s a mass land grab. Facebook going into the video space was always going to be an enormous, ambitious land grab and no doubt something they’ve been planning for some time as the potential income from ad revenue will be incredible”. Further information indicates that implementing music videos is just the start and a streaming service will soon follow.

We might keep things simple and regress back to a boombox.
