Turning over your vibrating phone with curious excitement only to see a flirty, promotional text from your local chicken shop is the quintessential 21st century reminder of how unpopular you’ve become.

If you have a LinkedIn account, or happened to have crossed within a mile-radius of someone who does, you’ll be aware of their penchant for prodding you like an ADHD ridden, obsessive girlfriend/boyfriend. Well, good news! The company has just announced that it will be cutting down the amount of emails it send you by 40 percent.

Written in the LinkedIn blog, a spokesperson said “many of you have told us that you receive too many emails from LinkedIn. We’re also not immune to the late night talk show host jokes. We get it”.

Popular users who are inundated by requests will now be provided with a weekly digest while upgrades from groups you’re a member of will allow you to opt-out of mass emails.
