We’ve been trawling all four corners of Fashionland to bring you this week’s must-have style stories, taking in everything from the catwalks, stores and streets to the more dubious corners of the Internet. This time around, we go Back to the Future with Nike and celebrate the upcoming H&M designer collab with one of our favourite 90’s boy bands.
Yesterday was 21st October 2015, the official day Marty McFly time-travelled to in the cult classic sci-fi Back to the Future 2. Back when the film was made nearly 30 years ago, Nike was asked to create trainer concepts for the film, envisioning what the denizens of the future might wear on their feet. They came up with the idea of innovative self-lacing sneakers – but the real thing has only just come to life. Actor Michael J. Fox, the original wearer of the shoes, revealed on Twitter that a pair were delivered to him yesterday by the sportswear brand, bringing the story full-circle. A limited-edition drop of the Nike Mag will be auctioned in spring next year.
Kiko Mizuhara for Opening Ceremony
Kiko Mizuhara has revealed her latest collaboration range with Opening Ceremony, marking the actor/singer/model’s sixth with the New York-based brand since 2013. Made for women with a ‘rebel heart’, the collection is full of cutesy feminine styles with a hint of badass attitude. Check out the video lookbook, showcasing all those 60’s-inspired separates and super-short miniskirts everyone will want for autumn.
Balmain x H&M (feat. the Backstreet Boys)
H&M‘s annual designer collab collections are one of the most hotly-anticipated events in the fashion calendar, and for 2015, it’s the turn of luxury French label Balmain – demand is already so high that leaked pictures have been shared all over the Internet. Ahead of the launch on November 5th, a party was thrown in New York on Tuesday to celebrate – and guess what? Backstreet’s back alright! Nick, Brian, Kevin, Howie and AJ made a surprise appearance, performing some of their best-known hits whilst rocking pieces from the new collection. Looking good, boys.
Diesel Autumn/Winter 2015-16 Campaign Films
Denim and casual style specialists Diesel have created a series of mini fashion films to show off the looks in the new A/W15 collection. Models Sang Woo Kim, David Alexander and Ben Nordberg all star, as each video highlights a specific staple area of the brand’s range; Denim, Rock and Military. We loved the lighthearted approach Diesel have taken here – check out the fun captions.
