The Kooples Fashion App
Très chic French label The Kooples have upped their tech game with a free new app for Android and iPhone. Titled ‘Blackout’, it plays on the idea of a social media network with a very intimate twist – it’s made to be used exclusively between you and your bae. Executed in a slick black and white display, Blackout mode blocks all calls, texts and notifications from anyone who isn’t your partner, while Glitch mode allows you to send a pixelated photo that only reveals parts of the image (just imagine what THAT could be used for…).
Paris House Shuffle
It’s all change in the world of high fashion, as two of the industry’s biggest creative directors have announced they are leaving their respective labels. First up was Raf Simons, who is cited to be exiting Dior for ”personal reasons” after a stint of three years at the helm of the brand, while Alber Elbaz’s shock ousting from Lanvin, where he worked for 14 years, has caused an outcry from its staff. The news also follows Alexander Wang’s departure from fellow French fashion house Balenciaga a few months ago. As a result, the rumour mill is currently going into overdrive as to who will replace these prestigious style spots – for instance, Elbaz is being hotly tipped for Dior…
Ashish at The V&A
We were super excited to hear that Ashish, one of our fave London-based labels, had been chosen as the newest subject of The V&A‘s ongoing Fashion in Motion series. Taking place on Friday, the museum staged four free catwalk shows full of the brand’s standout pieces from collections over the last decade, working as a live retrospective celebrating Ashish’s 10th anniversary. Highlights included sparkling sequinned dresses, rainbow-hued sportswear and grungy metallic denim pieces. Missed out? You can still get your fashion fix at the Saatchi’s Mademoiselle Privé Chanel exhibition (closing on Sunday).
Barbie x Moschino
Everyone’s favourite 12-inch style icon is no stranger to designer collaborations, having teamed up with everyone from Sibling and H&M to Dior and Versace over her 56-year history. Now, Barbie is getting a glam new makeover from Italian fashion house Moschino, as the label join forces with Mattel on a new doll design and capsule collection. Set to hit Net-a-Porter’s e-store on November 9th, Barbie’s new wardrobe includes sporty mesh separates and quilted bomber jackets, set off by a whole slew of accessories like sunnies, chain belts and bags. The life-sized range consists of eight copycat styles and two special Barbie tees, designed by Moschino creative director Jeremy Scott himself. If you like all that, check out the pink-tastic Barbie-inspired collection Moschino brought to the catwalk for S/S15.
Tom Ford’s Drake Tribute
Now that we’ve all stopped sniggering at Drake‘s dad dancing moves in new video ‘Hotline Bling‘, American designer Tom Ford has revealed the launch of a new lipstick named after none other than Drizzy himself. Launched as part of the label’s second Lips & Boys collection (which also contains cosmetic tributes to the likes of Joaquin Phoenix and Jake Gyllenhaal), the Drake lipstick is a warm burgundy shade… you could almost call it ‘Tuscan Leather‘, the name of one of the brand’s fragrances that also inspired a Drake song of the same name, where Ford himself is name-dropped. What goes around eh?
