Launched in New York by founder Dominique Keegan, Plant Music initially started out as a 12″ record label before branching out with a party promotions division and the Plant Bar club. When the venue was sadly shut down for ‘dancing violations’ in 2003, the company decided to focus on the label instead, attracting the attention of prolific NY radio/club DJ Stretch Armstrong, who later partnered with Dominique to take Plant Music to a new level within the industry. Over a decade later, Plant now has an impressive roster of artists championing their own unique take on club music, keeping its roots firmly in the NYC scene.
This is the last part of our Radio Kangol Spotlight series, where we have interviewed essential artists and profiled key labels your music collection is incomplete without. Every name featured will be played in-store during the KNGLxTRRBL collab Boxpark takeover, which finishes on Monday 12th October. Don’t miss out!
