Venice was the album that brought him to the attention of Dr. Dre, and eventually resulted in him featuring on no less than eight tracks on the Doctor’s hugely anticipated final album Compton. Anderson .Paak is an incredibly rare talent; his effortlessly smooth vocals exude funk, soul and jazz of a bygone era and give his voice depth beyond his years. His songwriting is just as impressive, with catchy hooks and lyrics with depth – on Animals, for example, from Dre’s Compton, he addresses the topical issue of institutional racism.
Come Down is the latest release from Anderson .Paak, who after being earmarked for greatness by Dr. Dre has producers queuing up to work with him – so much so that the prospect of working with Anderson has lured Hi-Tek out of hibernation. The legendary Hi-Tek provides Anderson .Paak with an instrumental that perfectly complements his awesome vocals. The track is taken from his sophomore album Malibu, which is released at the end of this week, which debuted on Dr. Dre’s Beats1 radio show The Pharmacy and has already amassed over 100,000 plays on SoundCloud.
Anderson .Paak’s music is a glimpse into the future of the genre, so be sure to get hold of the album when it comes out on January 15th, and in the mean time listen to Come Down right here.
