Known for characterising their collections with a dabbling of print, the twin designer duo have returned with an unmistakably Felder blue cotton print, but ultimately this season is awash with black and white gold metallics that glistened down the runway. Mix’n’match suits and classic mini skirts made their appearance, and the Ziggy-esque lightning bolt sweatshirt paired with the wet-look zip pants has swiftly became one of AW16’s most memorable looks.
This collection is entitled Conscious Wild Girl, here the conscious referring to the choices of how the collection’s materials were sourced. Felder Felder proudly highlights their choice of using recycled materials without compromising on aesthetic or the cool factor. In fact, using recycled CDs is pretty appealing in itself and the recycled glass made into chainmail pullovers, blouses and jumpsuits satisfied the rocker, as well as ethical fashion advocates. Elsewhere, blouses and dresses have been made from organic cotton and recycled plastic is used to embroider coats. With a collection like this, Felder Felder proves to the rest of the fashion market that something glamorous really can be made from your everyday trash.
There’s a distinct feeling that the Felder sisters have upped the ante with this collection. Although the memories of SS16’s metallics linger, AW16 has promised a collection that is highly desirable and unmistakably cool, from the garments themselves right through to the girl squad that brought them down the catwalk. We’re not talking quintessential rock’n’roll, but we are talking the Felder Felder party go-er who loves to bring out another side of her personality as soon as the sun goes down, and believe us – it’s done with ultimate conviction.
