#1: WEIRDO – Butter
Mysterious, devilish, uncomfortably wonderful Indie Pop from exciting newcomers WEIRDO. Word on the street: Four piece band showcasing a songwriter.
Wonder who it could be? Time will tell I suppose…
Charming, rocking, good-looking youngsters from Brighton. Brought the attitude with a stunning yet HUGE track, Dark Love.
Easily biggest track since Royal Blood’s debut (also Brighton based) and hit Annie Mac’s track of the week last week, even though unsigned. Promising.
#3: Raleigh Ritchie – Cowards [Prod. by Chris Loco]
Columbia-long-time-signee Raleigh Ritchie has teamed up with his most recent tour support Chris Loco, and created a wonderful concoction of mesmerising synth work, soulful signature vocals and a chart-worthy jam with Cowards.
#4: X&Y – Breathe
Being a sucker for great songwriting, this grabbed me instantaneously. 3 piece boyband from London, Brighton, Wales; killer chorus and a lot of promise in my opinion. If done right, expect to see them lined up in the Official Top 40 by winter time.
#5: M83 – Do It, Try It
How to write a pop song, by M83. Found this a few days back now and it’s huge. On an upcoming album called “JUNK” and with a rather unusual 80/90s inspired production, brash pianos and huge synth work, this killer track from M83 is a great hello. Reminiscense of ABBA, ELO and fuck it, WEIRDO, this odd-pop gem is destined for the top.
