A beauteous, tender and heart felt ode to love and loss, song ‘It Doesn’t Last Forever’ by Common Tongues , from their forthcoming album out later in the year. This is a song we can all relate do. “I’d say I had a taste of you, before I knew it was worthwhile – nothing lasts forever” – the lyrics hint at deeply feelings of regret for a misguided but inevitable love.
The gentle melodies are contrasted by incessant buzz of the drums resonating into us and sprinklings of twinkling guitars. Lead singer Tom Anderson’s fine vocals unfold to us tales of the travails and twists of love, so that ‘It Doesn’t Last Forever ‘ melts insidiously and deeply into our psyche.
“And I will be my own fool, but no substitute, in a game so old we’ll learn to cheat it ” – once again lyrics that everyone can relate to and find some light of hope in the eternal game of love.
The band have set up a Pledge Music campaign for their debut album, check out all details here
