Aquascutum started as tailors in 1851, and two years later created the first waterproof textile. Their signature trench coat was developed in 1914 for use in World War I. These coats have since become a key staple of British style. In contrast, Supreme opened in 1994 in Manhattan and became a key player in downtown skate culture and counterculture, while also being known for their quality. While the brands are so different from each other, collaboration between them isn’t surprising considering Aquascutum’s pioneering beginnings and Supreme’s innovative nature as a brand.
This marriage of classic staples with street styling is certainly harmonious, giving a heritage look an edgy twist. The collection features Aquascutum’s classic custom fit Filey Raincoat and a waterproof Club Jacket, which both have Supreme’s name emblazoned across the back, and are available in camel, black and check. The check pattern continues with a waterproof utility vest, flannel shirt, long sleeve polo shirt and a wool/cashmere blend scarf with Supreme boldly written across the length of the scarf.
The collection will be available in Supreme’s stores in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris and online on October 13th.
