Introducing: Black Saint

  • Words: Spindle

There’s not much know about emerging UK collective Black Saint, and what there is, seems to be cloaked in mystery and enigma. The current story is that there are three of them, they are rising from the subcultures of what’s left of London’s underground club scene and they have an incredible debut single out which is set to infiltrate playlist, dancefloors and Christmas parties well into 2017.

2016 has been the year of building foundations and carving their craft, as well as performing stellar sets alongside Toddla T at Notting Hill Carnival and putting the finishing touches to the official remix of Dua Lipa’s ‘Blow Your Mind (Mwah)’

The brooding, cinematic video for the single has been directed by coveted and award-winning director Josh Cole (Rudimental, Chase & Status) who’s creative vision encapsulates and executes the true ethos of the song as well as Black Saint’s aesthetic, and we’re big fans.

They are set to begin a series of live streamed ‘guerrilla-style’ house parties , which comes in response to the decline of London’s club culture and the closure of many of the city’s most long-standing venues, showcasing the importance and relevance of clubbing institutions within London’s cultural landscape – a space for a community to integrate themselves, build relationships and develop their own identity.
