North London trio Jagara have just released their new single ‘Let Me Go,’ an atmospheric slice of electro-pop. Jagara are sisters Jane (lead vocals, electric guitar), Ruth (vocals, electric guitar, keys) and Cat (vocals, keys, drums), and their band is named after a female warrior anime character.
Their new single was reportedly inspired by German television drama ‘Deutschland 83,’ and this influence is evident, for the show had a fantastic soundtrack of cool, synth heavy electronica, and ‘Let Me Go’ channels the new wave and darkwave scenes of the ‘80s with retro synths and 808 drum beats. You can also hear the inspiration in the song’s chilling atmosphere and paranoid lyrics, as they chant, “Can you hear them coming?” Lead vocalist Jane has a beautiful voice that adds an emotional tone to the song, making it even more haunting and hypnotic. With their terrific retro sound and gorgeous vocals, this is a breathtaking new single from Jagara, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for the trio.
