Marc Jacobs’ #CastMeMarc seeks beauty vlogger through Instagram

This is the third time Marc Jacobs has turned to Instagram to seek new talent. The first instance was two years ago, when he used the platform to cast models for his Marc by Marc Jacobs AW14 campaign. Over 70,000 users submitted videos with the hashtag #CastMeMarc, with nine being chosen and photographed by David Sims. He chose the same process for his AW15 campaign the following year.

Recruiting talent from social media is now common practice, with a wealth of creatives building prominent showcases of their work online and many gaining significant followings. Numerous notable brands, agencies, and publications have created social media campaigns to find their next stars.


This time round, Jacobs is looking for a beauty vlogger. ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ star and artistic drag queen Milk – who starred in Jacob’s SS16 campaign – appeared in an Instagram video to announce the search for a “Marc Jacobs beauty social media sensation.” Users are invited to post a video on Instagram detailing their beauty and fashion inspiration, and why Jacobs should choose cheap viagra them, once again using the hashtag #CastMeMarc. Submissions will be accepted from anyone over 18 and from all over the world until 5th December. Ten finalists will then be chosen and flown to New York, where they will record a make-up video.
